| The development of multi-analyte methods for lipophilic shellfish toxins based on liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry permits rapid screening and analysis of samples for a wide variety of toxins in a single run. Validated methods and appropriate certified reference materials (CRMs) are required to ensure accuracy of results. CRMs are essential for accurate instrument calibration, for assessing the complete analytical method from sample extraction to data analysis and for verifying trueness. | The present work describes the development of a certified reference material (CRM) composed of solutions of ethanol in water in five different concentrations, and all stages necessary for the development of an CRM, according to the guidelines of ISO GUIDES 30, 31, 32, 33, 34 and 35. The development of this CRM has been determined by Inmetro Rule n. 006 of 2002, which requires that all breath alcohol analyzers being used in Brazil shall have their respective models approved and that the subsequent verifications shall be performed based on tests with solutions of ethanol in water. | Abstract Considering the absence of standards for culture collections and more specifically for biological resource centers in the world, in addition to the absence of certified biological material in Brazil, this study aimed to evaluate a Fungal Collection from Fiocruz, as a producer of certified reference material and as Biological Resource Center (BRC). For this evaluation, a checklist based on the requirements of ABNT ISO GUIA34:2012 correlated with the ABNT NBR ISO/IEC17025:2005, was designed and applied.
